A Camp Country Lad summer is based on a four-week program. We believe that a boy gets the most from Camp through a full four-week stay. Two-week sessions are also available for first timers or those not able to stay the full four weeks. We also offer a special six-week program especially for our oldest boys as they prepare to join our staff.
Since our first year in 1962, Camp Country Lad has been based on a four-week program and we continue to believe that four weeks at Camp gives a boy the best of a Country Lad summer.
Traditional Four-Week Session
With this time at camp, boys can complete the ranks for the activities they pursue, make something special in crafts or woodworking. They also enjoy a much fuller experience of camp: campouts, hikes, Special Days, trail rides, vespers and campfire programs, all culminating in a Final Banquet. Most importantly, boys spend more time with their cabinmates, living simply together and deepening what will become lifelong friendships, developing in confidence and character, and having a real opportunity to give of themselves to others.
In this summer’s four-week session, we will celebrate our Camp Birthday and 62 years of Camp Country Lad! Inside our four-week Camp, we will continue to offer a two-week option, but the program will remain our traditional four weeks.
Introductory Two-Week Session
Several years ago now, when shifting school schedules and required summer activities kept many boys from a full four-week stay, we created our two-week session. Two weeks provides campers an introduction to camp life and activities and gives boys a chance to sample activities, go on a campout, and make new friends. This abbreviated session can be especially good for boys new to Camp who may not quite be ready for the full four weeks their first year, as this “taste of Camp” will prepare them for the full four-week session when they are ready. Two-week Camp provides a great introduction to Country Lad for those not yet ready to stay the full four weeks, but we feel that real lasting value comes from a four week stay.
Six-Week Session
Beginning this summer, we are very excited to offer a new six-week program to our very oldest boys. This new program, along with all of the traditional Camp experiences, will be filled with unique leadership opportunities, special out-of-Camp trips and open only to our “Hemlock” boys (those having just completed 9th grade) in their final camper year. With the two-week Camp ending on the same day that the four-week Camp begins, it will be a nonstop summer for these six-weekers and a very special summer together as they prepare for the possibility of joining our staff the next year.

We host prospective Camper information sessions via Zoom for those unable to attend a Camp Party. They are a great way to learn about Camp and ask questions in an informal, small group setting. Parents and boys are invited to join us. If you are interested please contact the Camp office for scheduling.
