Camp Country Lad is a rustic residential camp for boys ages 7-15 in the heart of the Cumberland Mountains.
Founded in 1962 by Malcolm Williams, Camp Country Lad centers on the development of the “whole boy” not just on the skills he learns. Lasting benefits may be reached in an atmosphere that is safe and filled with fun and happiness. Camp Country Lad provides boys from all over the country a unique opportunity to grow in character, share experiences, and build friendships that last a lifetime through participation in a wide variety of camping activities and simple living in the out-of-doors. Located on 1,400 acres of woods and pastures on the Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee, Camp Country Lad has remained a “home away from home” to boys for over 60 years. Camp Country Lad, along with our sister camp, Camp Monterey, continues to be directed by the Williams family, along with a dedicated and experienced senior staff.

Camp Life
Camp Country Lad offers a boy the opportunity to live in the woods simply; to enjoy a combination of wilderness camping and rustic living; to have fun informally while gaining new skills as they live in the out-of-doors; and to share the insights of living together in a Christian atmosphere. Information on a typical day, activities, special days, Sundays and out-of-camp adventures can be found here.

Camp Sessions
A Camp Country Lad summer is based on a four-week program. We believe that a boy gets the most from Camp through a full four-week stay. Two-week sessions are also available for first timers or those not able to stay the full four weeks. We also offer a special six-week program exclusively to our oldest boys as they prepare to join our staff. Session dates, tuition information, and Camp applications can be found here.

Parents
Learning independence and building friendships in a safe and fun-filled environment while “having fun in the right kind of way” is at the heart of all that we do at Camp Country Lad and will give your son a meaningful experience that he will carry with him throughout his life. Information about Camp, what to bring, how to stay in touch, medical needs, and transportation can also be found here.

Staff
The Camp program is led by our experienced Senior Staff. Our Counselors, who live in the cabins with the boys, are carefully chosen for their character, personality, and leadership abilities. Nearly all of our staff are former campers. They believe in and embody the ideals and values held in the Camp spirit that they themselves found as campers. More information, including how to apply, can be found here.

Alumni
Camp Country Lad’s Alumni Association, our “Old Timers” as we like to call them, is open to anyone who has ever been a camper or staff member at Camp Country Lad. It is a great way to stay connected to Camp and your Camp friends, introduce Camp to others, support our scholarship program, and join in Camp special events. Alumni news and events as well as registration information can be found here.
